Regional Arrangement concerning the Radiotelephone Service on Inland Waterways

This regional Arrangement was signed in Basel on 6 April 2000. The following countries, chiefly Rhine and Danube countries, signed the Arrangement: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Luxemburg, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic, Switzerland and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

The delegates of the Administrations of the above-mentioned countries, willing to implement common safety principles and rules for people and goods on Inland Waterways, considering that the harmonisation of the radiotelephone service shall contribute to a safer navigation on Inland Waterways, particularly in case of bad weather conditions, have met in accordance with Article S6 of the Radio Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to adopt the following provisions.

On 16 November 2003 this regional arrangement was changed in a number of places. Below you will find the main points of this Arrangement. The changes made on 16 November 2003 are in italics.

This Arrangement replaces the Regional Arrangement concerning the Radiotelephone Service on Inland Waterways from 1 August 2000 and 25 January 1996.
