Short numbers

There are several types of short numbers: the three-digit numbers are reserved for emergency services

The numbers 100 (urgent medical care and fire department), 101 (police), 103 (children’s helpline), 107 (the helpline), 110 (disappearance, violence, sexual child abuse), 112 (European emergency number) are toll-free. 

The European hotline number 116000 for missing and sexually abused children is also toll-free. 

The short national numbers from the 12xx, 13xx and 14xx series are used for voice mail services and directory services

The SMS and MMS short numbers have 4 digits. 

The tariffs of the services provided through these numbers vary according to the type of number and service. 

The SMS and MMS short numbers starting with 7 are used for adult premium charge services  for which a maximum of 4 euro a message sent and a message returned can be charged. 

The SMS and MMS short numbers starting with 3 are used for premium charge services  other than games etc. and services of a sexual nature; they can also be charged at a maximum of 4 euro to the end-user (to be divided between one message sent and one message returned). 

The SMS and MMS short numbers starting with 6 are used for premium charge services such as competitive games, quizzes, ringtones that are not of a sexual nature; the end-user tariff is 2 euro maximum (also to be divided between a single message sent and a single message returned). 

The SMS and MMS short numbers starting with 9 are used for premium charge services providing information at regular intervals that is not of a sexual nature; the tariff for messages received by the end-user is 2 euro maximum per message; the maximum tariff of the messages he sends is the usual tariff for communication without a premium charge. 

The SMS and MMS short numbers starting with 2 are used for premium charge services other than services such as competitive games, quizzes, ringtones or services of a sexual nature; the end-user tariff is 1 euro maximum per message sent and message returned. 

The SMS and MMS short numbers starting with 5 are used for premium charge services such as competitive games, quizzes, ringtones that are not of a sexual nature; the end-user tariff is 50 eurocent maximum per message sent and message returned. 

The SMS and MMS short numbers starting with 4 can be used as  a means of payment for physical products or other services besides games, quizzes or services of a sexual nature provided by telephone; the tariff can go up to 31 euro
