International call rates capped Brussels, 9 May 2019 – On 15 May 2019, the international rates will be capped both for fixed and mobile services. From that time on it will be cheaper for residential users to call or text from Belgium to another EU country. In principle, operators will not be able to charge more than 19 euro cents per minute or 6 euro cents per SMS (exclusive of VAT).

BIPT imposes a new fine on Lycamobile In a Decision of 24 April 2019 and due to non-compliance with a previous Decision of BIPT and with the regulation on the prior identification of end-users of prepaid cards, BIPT imposed a €394,070 fine as well as a new series of mandatory measures on Lycamobile.

A similar decision has been taken for the wholesale fixed call origination market, which is currently characterised by an increased competition.
