Some examples of networks and services
This list, which is not exhaustive, gives some examples of networks and services, to be chosen from the proposed categories.
Network | Example |
---|---|
Metal line (DSL) | xDSL network based on metallic cables. |
Coax (Cable TV) | Network via coaxial cable |
Fiber | Fiber network |
Electricity cable system | Network through the wiring used to transmit electricity |
Wireless-licenced spectrum | Wireless network using sublicensed spectrum such as Tetra Network. |
Wireless-unlicenced spectrum | Wireless network using "free" spectrum, such as a wifi network. |
Réseaux mobiles standard (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, …) | Mobile network using standards such as 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G. |
Other mobile solutions (ex: Tetrapol) | Any other type of mobile network. |
Submarine cables | Submarine cable network |
Satellite | Satellite network |
Other | Any other type of non-mobile network. |
Service | Example |
---|---|
Fixed IAS | Service allowing access to the fixed Internet (e.g. access via fiber). |
Mobile IAS | Service allowing access to the mobile internet (e.g. access via 4G). |
Fixed NB-ICS | Fixed service that allows direct interpersonal and interactive exchange of information via electronic communications networks between a finite number of people (e.g., fixed telephone line for calling, VOIP call line) that establishes a connection to publicly assigned dialing resources. |
Mobile NB-ICS | Mobile service that allows the direct interpersonal and interactive exchange of information via electronic communications networks between a finite number of people (e.g. cell phone line, SMS, RCS, mobile VOIP line, ...) that establishes a connection to publicly assigned numbering resources. |
Data transmission | Any service allowing the transmission of data that does not meet any other definition. |
Leased lines | A leased line is a dedicated communication channel that interconnects two or more sites, for example. |
Roaming service (MCA and MCV) | Mobile communication service on board aircraft or vessels (maritime). |
Transport of telephone traffic between operators | Transit service of telephone traffic between operators (not end users). |
M2M service | Machine to Machine service, such as IoT where data is transmitted with little or no human interaction between two devices. |
Other | Any other electronic communications service not included in the other definitions. |
