BIPT has decided to no longer regulate the retail access to national fixed telephony services via CS and CPS, due to a sharp decrease in their significance. A similar decision has been taken for the wholesale fixed call origination market, which is currently characterised by an increased competition. These decisions remove the existing obligations imposed on Proximus on these markets.

Brussels, 22 October 2018 – The telecoms regulator publishes today its technical study on the impact of the current radiation standards in Brussels on the deployment of mobile networks. It concludes in this regard that, given the anticipated increase in data traffic and a desired deployment of 5G, these standards must be adapted.
