A study conducted by WIK Consult on behalf of the BIPT reveals that the major foreign online marketplaces play an important role in e-commerce in Belgium and that Belgian e-retailers still have room for professionalisation.
Furthermore parcel services are more and more in line with the users’ preferences.
Sustainability is also playing an increasingly important role in the evolution of the delivery networks of those parcel deliverers.
The study recommends to be careful about the far-reaching reforms regarding parcel deliveries, to work out a national e-commerce strategy, to continue to professionalise the national e-commerce market and to continue to focus on the sustainability aspect of parcel delivery.
