On 13 May 2025 the European Commission launched a public consultation in order to get feedback on the guidelines on protection of minors online under Article 28 of the Digital Services Act (DSA).
The guidelines aim to support platforms accessible by minors in ensuring a high level of privacy, safety, and security for minors, on their service, as required by the DSA.
The guidelines outline a non-exhaustive list of measures that online platforms can implement to protect minors.
The guidelines will apply to all providers of online platforms accessible by minors, with the exception of micro and small enterprises, and will therefore also apply to very large online platforms which have more than 45 million monthly users in the EU.
The draft guidelines are open for feedback on the site of the European Commission.
